Real del Monte, Hidalgo joined the Pueblos Mágicos program on August 28, 2004.

It is assured that the name of Mineral del Monte was adopted at the founding of the town, but during the Spanish domination it was changed to Real del Monte due to the custom during the colonial era of calling all places under the domain of the Spanish crown that way, especially the mining centers.

This Magical Town communicates, to the northeast, with Omitlán and Huasca, following highway no. 105, the same road that, to the east, connects it with Mineral del Chico and later with the city of Pachuca.
