It was added to the Pueblos Mágicos program in 2018.
Its name comes from the Nahuatl Ameyalco or Amellayi, the “Place of springs”. This magical town is located at an altitude of 2,600 m, Amealco enjoys a stable climate; warm sub-humid and humid, and an average temperature of 15º C.
Pulque or mead is a typical drink from Amealco. Fruity wines and crystallized sweets are also produced. The purchase of handicrafts, the artisan dolls - Intangible Cultural Heritage of Querétaro - created by Otomí women are well known, so much so that they have their Doll Museum, here they exhibit these works of art.
